5 DAYS TOUR FROM MARRAKECH TO MERZOUGA

On the first day of your 5 days tour from Marrakech to Merzouga. You will leave Marrakech in the morning and soon reach the Tizi n’Tichka mountain pass in the High Atlas. At 2,260 meters altitude, the winding landscapes and huge cliffs will leave you in awe. Next, you will arrive in Ouarzazate, a city with a rich film tradition. Here, you can explore movie sets and take memorable pictures. Known as the Moroccan Hollywood, there’s almost always a film being shot in town.

From there, you will travel along the Route of 1000 Kasbahs, passing through the palm grove of Skoura to reach the Valley of the Roses, a spectacular sight in spring. You will spend the night in the beautiful Dades Valley.

DAY 2: DADES GORGES – TODRA GORGES – ERFOUD – MERZOUGA

Today, you will cross the dramatic Dades and Todra Gorges, marveling at their towering cliffs and striking color contrasts. You’ll have the opportunity to walk beneath the impressive 300-meter-high walls of the Todra Gorge before continuing to Erfoud, famously known as the city of fossils, as you approach the Merzouga Desert. As you gaze at the dunes, you’ll feel a sensation unlike anything you’ve experienced before.

Upon arrival, you will settle into a hotel near the dunes, with time to wander through the golden sands of Erg Chebbi or explore the nearby adobe-built town of Merzouga.

DAY 3: MERZOUGA – VISIT TO NOMAD FAMILIES – MERZOUGA

Today is all about desert exploration by 4×4. You might feel like you’re part of the Paris Dakar rally as you visit Berber nomad families living in khaimas made of dromedary skin or small buildings.

You will explore the nearly abandoned Mifis mines and enjoy a live Gnawa music performance in Khamlia, known as the Gnawa village. After lunch, you will return to your hotel to switch transport, your dromedaries will be ready to guide you into the dunes.

You will arrive at your desert camp just in time to witness a magical sunset. Spend an unforgettable night under the stars with music, fire, and the Milky Way lighting up the sky.

DAY 4: MERZOUGA – RISSANI – OUARZAZATE

In the early morning, you have the option to see the sunrise; trust us, it’s worth it. Feel the soft, warming sand beneath your feet as the day begins. After breakfast, you will return to Merzouga village by dromedaries or 4WD to meet your driver and prepare to continue your trip.

Today’s highlight is the Rissani market, Morocco’s oldest, where you will see locals still arriving by donkey. Yes, there’s even donkey parking! As you travel through the Anti-Atlas, you will pass towns like Tazzarine, N’kob, and Agdz. The scenery changes dramatically as you enter the lush Draa Valley, Morocco’s most important date-producing area.

You will continue through Mount Saghro and eventually reach your hotel in Ouarzazate, where you will rest for the night.

DAY 5: OUARZAZATE- AIT BEN HADDOU – MARRAKECH

Today, you will head back to Marrakech. On the way, you will stop for a visit at the stunning Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. As you walk through this fortified city, you’ll feel transported back in time.

Your tour continues over the High Atlas Mountains and through the Tizi n’Tichka Pass. By late afternoon, you will arrive back in Marrakech, marking the end of your unforgettable 5 days desert tour from Marrakech to Merzouga.
